Matt Lindsay watches son coach

Former football coach Matt Lindsay made his return to Bishop Luers on Friday – to watch his son, Kyle, coach his first game as the full-time leader of the Knights football program.

Matt Lindsay was down on the field after Kyle's Knights fell to Snider 34-12 in the season opener at Luersfield.

Matt Lindsay was shaking hands and talking with Luers assistant coaches and team personnel while waiting on Kyle to finish up speaking with the media.

Matt Lindsay served as the Luers football coach from 1987-2012 before being fired midseason last year. Kyle served as interim coach for one game, before former Luers coach Steve Keefer (the coach Matt succeeded) finished the season as the Knights won their fourth straight Class 2A state title.

Matt Lindsay was not seen at any Luers' games last year and reportedly watched the state championship game on television.

Matt Lindsay was 229-99 for the Knights and coached the program to nine 2A state titles.
