Eyeing IU

Local products sign with IU track and field

IU announced the signing of three local track and field athletes Tuesday.

Adrian Mable of South Side, Luke Miller of Bishop Dwenger and Madison Stenger of Carroll will join the Hoosiers in the 2013 season, track and field coach Ron Helmer announced. They are among 15 signees the program added.

Mable will compete in hurdles, Miller in distance runs and Stenger in middle distance for the Hoosiers.

Helmer commented on each of the athletes in the release by IU Athletics.

Helmer on Mable: "Adrian was very consistent this outdoor season. He must adjust to the college (42-inch) hurdles but has shown the athletic ability necessary to get the job done."

Heler on Miller: "Luke came on late in the outdoor season running a personal best to score in the state meet. We need him to continue to learn to train, develop and find a way to ultimately help our outstanding group of young distance runners get better."

Helmer on Stenger: "Madison ran well last spring and comes from a Carroll High School program that has sent us a number of very talented athletes. We need her to have a great outdoor season this spring and position herself to become another solid Big Ten middle distance performer from her school."
