Hankenson fills in, steps up

Bellmont senior Holly Hankenson moved from outside hitter to middle hitter in the absence of junior Sadie Alberson.

Alberson has been nursing an injured ankle and was on the sidelines wearing a protective boot.

Hankenson stepped up when the Braves needed her the most in a 3-2 win over Bishop Dwenger on Tuesday in the season opener, getting 24 kills, nine digs and an ace.

Game scores were 25-8, 20-25, 25-21, 28-30, 15-13.

Twin sister Bailee Hankenson had 41 assists, eight kills and two aces.

Janaya Wilder added 11 kills.

For Dwenger, Olivia Current had 12 kills and Jennifer O'Daniel had 19 assists.
