Police in SW Ohio say suspect drowns while fleeing

MORROW, Ohio — Police in southwest Ohio say a burglary suspect is dead after drowning in a pond while running from officers.

Authorities in Warren County north of Cincinnati say they recovered the body of the suspect Saturday.

Hamilton Township police tell WCPO in Cincinnati that the suspect initially fled officers by driving his truck into a field. He then ran away after the truck got stuck in the field.

Officers say they then heard the man yelling and saw him struggling to swim in the middle of a pond. They say by the time they got there he had gone underwater.

The man's name has not been released.
