Web letter: GOP hurting itself trying to block Obama

Some advice from a Democrat to GOP folks on how you to can win general elections …sometimes.

Fact: The majority that elected Obama knew about, and, in essence, voted for his initiatives, including the Affordable Health Care Act.

Fact: If the Affordable Health Care Act was as bad as the GOP claims, and, the GOP would have allowed it to take affect, the GOP would easily sweep the next general election. (Higher premiums, no choice of doctors, no choice of hospitals, mandatory implants for all US citizens, death panels)

Fact: The millions of independent-thinking, independent-voting people, the people that swing the vote, will see the GOP as obstructionists having not given the policies they voted for in the past two general elections a chance.

The irony is: The three-word reason Obama was elected the first time – George W Bush. The Democrats went along with the Iraq war, an economic policy that went from a balanced budget to borrowing $400 million a day 365 days a year, bailing out GM and a bunch of cheating Wall Street investment banks. The opposition gave Bush enough rope to hang himself and the rest of the GOP.

The GOP should learn from that. If Obama’s and the Democrats’ initiatives are that evil, allow them to happen. You’ll be the big winners.
