Indiana will play in Madison Square Garden during the Jimmy V Classic on Dec. 9, 2014, but the Hoosiers' opponent is still up in the air.
The Indianapolis Star reported Wednesday that IU signed a contract to play Louisville in the Classic, but the Cardinals told WDRB in Louisville that they have not signed off on the matchup.
IU spokesman J.D. Campbell said in an email that the Hoosiers have agreed to play in the Classic, but IU's opponent would be determined by ESPN.
The Star obtained a copy of the contract via an open records request. The agreement between IU and the broadcast partner, ESPN, was for $200,000. IU athletic director Fred Glass signed the document April 10, according to the Star.
If the Hoosiers and Cardinals played in the game next season, it would be the fist matchup between the programs since 2003.
The Star report also revealed three contracts for nonconference home games in the 2013-14 season: North Florida on Dec. 7; Nicholls State on Dec. 20; and Kennesaw State on Dec. 22.
