Auburn man in I-69 crash dies from injuries

Lloyd E. Myers, 84, of Auburn, died Friday from injuries he sustained Wednesday in a crash on Interstate 69 north of Dupont Road, according to the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

The wreck occurred about 9:40 a.m. A pickup truck had stopped along the right side of the southbound lane near the 320 mile marker, according to the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.

The pickup pulled back into traffic, directly into the path of a car. The truck was hit from behind, causing it to travel across several lanes and into the barriers dividing the northbound and southbound lanes.

The pickup driver was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries. The coroner’s office identified him Saturday as Myers.

Myers is the 20th traffic fatality for Fort Wayne and Allen County in 2013. The crash remains under investigation by the Allen County Police Department and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
