  • A goalie guess; look at lines
Roman Will would seem to be the most likely fit to wind up in the ECHL as a goalie, but he's spent the last two seasons in the Czech Republic after an impressive junior career in Moncton. If I had to guess, it would be him.
  • K's sign 2 forwards
The Komets finalized the signing of forward Thomas Frazee, who had 24 goals and 47 points in 60 games last season for Quad City of the CHL, and also announced that they have added forward Brett Beebe to the roster.
  • Looks almost official
Center Thomas Frazee posted on his twitter account he will play for the Komets this season.

Why Rizk was traded

While it may be a tough pill to swallow for Komets fans -- the team gave up Jean-Michel Rizk as the future considerations to Alaska to get Bobby Hughes -- Rizk probably wouldn't have been in Fort Wayne anyway.

Despite reports from other media outlets, Komets coach Gary Graham said Fort Wayne and Rizk were never close on a contract.

"This is the negotiating phase ... and it came to the point where you could see it wasn't going in the right direction," Graham said. "Rizker asked us to see what was out there and I had a conversation with him to make sure that was really what he wanted. I knew it wouldn't be hard to find a place for him to land.

"I wanted to try and get him to place where it would be good for his career. I like him as a person and as a player. Both teams got what they were looking for."

The Komets still owe future considerations to San Francisco for Simon Danis-Pepin, and Graham said an announcement on that will likely come Monday afternoon.

Also, Graham said the Komets are close to announcing a goaltender signing, something they have spent a lot of time working on this summer.
