Defiance wreck injures 5 people

A two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon on Ohio 15 in Defiance County, Ohio, sent five people to the hospital.

Kari Reiman, 28, was westbound in her 2013 Chevy Malibu on Mansfield Road when she pulled away from a stop sign and was struck at 3:20 p.m. by a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Ashley Bemis, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

Bemis was traveling with two children, Madison Palmer, 13, and an infant, and Tracy Palmer, 41, police said.

All five people were transported to Mercy Hospital in Defiance.

Madison Palmer, who was not properly restrained at the time of the crash, police said, was later flown to St. Vincent’s in Toledo with serious injuries.

Reiman also had serious injuries, while the others were treated for minor injuries, police said.
