TinCaps' game rained out

The rubber game between the TinCaps and West Michigan Whitecaps was rained out Friday at Comstock Park, Mich.

The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader when the TinCaps return to West Michigan for a series Aug. 28-30. The doubleheader will have two seven-inning games with a 30-minute break between games.

The TinCaps won the first game of the series 9-2 on Wednesday against the Whitecaps, but they fell in the second game 4-3 on Thursday.

Fort Wayne (55-46, 12-20 second half) continues its six-game road trip with the start of a three-game series at 7 p.m. today in Dayton. The scheduled starting pitchers are Matthew Shepherd (4-2, 3.65 ERA) for the TinCaps and Drew Cisco (3-5, 3.87) for the Dragons.

Shepherd was scheduled to start against West Michigan on Friday but will have to wait a day while in search of his first professional win. Shepherd (0-1) lost last Friday in his shortest start of the season, failing to get out of the fourth inning after giving up five earned runs and seven hits.

The TinCaps, who clinched a playoff spot in the first half, are 9-13 in July.
