Authorities confirm body is missing Fishers woman

FISHERS – Authorities have identified the body found inside a submerged SUV as that of an 18-year-old woman from suburban Indianapolis who went missing last week.

Fishers police said Tuesday that the Hamilton County coroner’s office determined that Peyton Riekhof died from drowning.

Riekhof’s body was found inside her SUV when it was pulled Sunday from about 8 feet of water in Geist Reservoir after a resident reported tire tracks leading into the lake.

Police said the recent Hamilton Southeastern High School graduate was last seen about 3 a.m. Thursday when she left a friend’s nearby home. More than 100 classmates and others attended a Monday evening vigil for Riekhof at the school in Fishers.
