10-year term possible in molesting attempt

A man who admitted Monday to at least trying to molest a 10-year-old girl is now looking at 10 years in prison.

Brian B. Morgan, 26, pleaded guilty in Allen Superior Court to one count of attempted child molesting and one count of battery.

As part of a plea deal, Allen County prosecutors will recommend that Morgan be sentenced to 15 years in prison, provided five of those are suspended.

They will also recommend he be sentenced to two years on the battery charge, but that it should be served at the same time as the attempted molesting count.

According to court documents, the victim in the case said that Morgan tried to rape her, fondled her and forced her to take two “muscle relaxers” and smoke a “spice cigar.”

She also told detectives Morgan punched her in the head, bit her on the stomach and slapped her across the face.

Morgan, of the 2100 block of Webster Street, is to be sentenced next month, according to court records.
