Eyeing IU

  • Hoosiers announce remainder of sked
Indiana formally announced the rest of its schedule today, with the season opener on Nov. 14 against Mississippi Valley State. There is only one exhibition game: Indianapolis visits Assembly Hall for a glorified scrimmage on Nov.
  • Hoosier offense belongs to Sudfeld
BLOOMINGTON – The shared journey is over. Indiana’s quarterback role belongs to one man, Nate Sudfeld.
  • Indiana, Big Ten and college football predictions sure to go wrong
The college football season officially starts tonight when Abilene Christian and Georgia State kick off. It’s a game no one would normally care about, but since we’re a football-starved nation, curious eyes will tune in to ESPNU.

Elston to play in Italy, newspaper reports

Former Indiana forward Derek Elston has signed a contract to play professionally in Malta, Italy, the Herald-Times in Bloomington confirmed.

Verdell Jones III, a teammate of Elston during his time in Bloomington and a close friend, tweeted around noon that the 6-foot-9 forward had become a part of the pro basketball ranks.

"Shoutout to my boy Derek Elston pursuing his dreams and signing his first pro contract today..going to malta, italy! Lucky dude," Jones tweeted.

Elston will be the fourth member of the 2012-13 Hoosiers to make it on a pro roster. He joins NBA lottery picks Victor Oladipo and Cody Zeller, as well as Jordan Hulls, who signed with a team in Poland.

Christian Watford, who is working to make an NBA roster during summer team camps, is also expected to go pro, be it in the U.S. or overseas.
