F-16 makes emergency landing at Toledo airport

TOLEDO, Ohio – An Ohio Air National Guard pilot landed his F-16 safely at Toledo Express Airport after declaring an in-flight emergency.

Maj. Gary Bentley of the air guard unit that’s based just outside Toledo says an electrical problem during a training flight Thursday afternoon forced the pilot to return to the airport.

He says a backup system kicked-in right away.

The electrical problem developed about a half-hour into the 90-minute training flight.

Bentley says the unit deals with a couple in-flight emergencies each year.
