Notre Dame considers international affairs school

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – University of Notre Dame officials are looking at increasing the school’s role in global activities by starting up a school of international affairs.

The new school would build on existing degree programs at the university. Kroc Center for International Peace Studies director Scott Appleby says Notre Dame might also add bachelor’s and master’s degrees in international affairs.

Appleby told the South Bend Tribune (http://bit.ly/17ntVVg) that the committee he’s helping lead should make a recommendation next year on whether to start the new school.

Notre Dame already offers more than 40 international study programs in 20 countries. In recent years, about 60 percent of Notre Dame’s students have gone to other countries for such programs.
