Men seeking donations have no official connection to diocese

The Catholic Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend issued a statement Monday after getting inquiries about men seeking donations at Fort Wayne street corners using signs that say “Catholic Veterans.”

“These men may be Catholic, and may be veterans, but there is no local, official organization that is affiliated with the diocese by this name,” the diocese statement said. “The diocese does not endorse this activity, nor has it verified with these individuals their status as Catholics or veterans.”
