TinCaps shut out Beloit, Ross picks up win

TinCaps starter Joe Ross picked up his first win since April 25, and Fort Wayne pitched a shutout in a 1-0 victory against Beloit on Sunday at Pohlman Field in Beloit, Wis.

Ross, who improved to 4-4, broke a streak of 11 straight games without a win for TinCaps starters. He went six innings and gave up three hits while striking out five.

Left fielder Luis Domoromo went 2 for 3 for the TinCaps and drove in the lone run in the top of the fifth inning. His double scored right fielder Corey Adamson.

Domoromo was the only TinCaps player with more than one hit Sunday. But that lone shot was all Fort Wayne needed against Beloit (59-34).

Trevor Gott came in for a two-inning hold, and Chris Nunn got the save for Fort Wayne (51-41), which improved to 8-15 in the second half of the season. The TinCaps face the Snappers in the final game of their series at 1 p.m. Monday.
