Cycling festival races this Sunday

– The fifth annual Parkview Cycling Festival, for cyclists ages 4 to 64, is 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Parkview Field.

The festival, sponsored by Parkview Health, has eight races sanctioned by USA Cycling, including several races for kids. The first men’s race is at 8 a.m., and the first junior race and women’s race are at 8:45 a.m. The final race begins at 1:45 p.m.

There will also be a Bike Show and Swap Meet, organized by the Northeast Indiana Trail Riders Organization.

Register online at until 11:59 p.m. Friday. On site check-in will open at 6:30 a.m. Sunday.

The festival was founded by Jim Kruse and John Martin, who began the Fort Wayne cycling club Men of Steel Racing. Its first year, the festival drew 200 racers from eight states and more than 4,000 spectators, and it was the first non-baseball event at Parkview Field.
