Indiana has 5 home Big Ten games in ’16, 4 in ’17

The 2017 Big Ten football season will provide Indiana with a test.

The Hoosiers will play five away conference that games that season. They open the season against Ohio State at home on Sept. 2, play their first Big Ten road game at Penn State on Sept. 30, then face Michigan in the next league game.

The Big Ten released football schedules for 2016 and 2017 Thursday. The Hoosiers will have five home league games in 2016 and four in 2017.

In 2016, IU plays host to Michigan State, Nebraska, Maryland, Penn State and Purdue and plays at Ohio State, Northwestern, Rutgers and Michigan. In 2017, the Hoosiers play host to the Buckeyes, Michigan, Wisconsin and Rutgers. They play at Penn State, Michigan State, Maryland, Illinois and Purdue.
