State park to host Drum of Miami Nation

NEW CASTLE – An eastern Indiana state park will host a night of traditional Native American drum music next week.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources says Summit Lake State Park near New Castle will host the Drum of the Miami Nation on July 20 as part of the property’s annual Native American Weekend.

The concert is the focal point for a day of learning about the culture of the Native Americans of Indiana. Throughout the day, Native Americans will demonstrate their crafts, including building dream catchers.

The concert and day’s events are free, but the standard gate fee of $5 per in-state vehicle or $7 per out-of-state vehicle will be charged.

The park is about 40 miles west of Indianapolis.
