Man dies after diving onto sandbar

An Ohio man badly injured in a diving accident Sunday evening at Big Chapman Lake in Kosciusko County has died, according to Indiana conservation officers.

Bradley Heyne, 26, of Coldwater, Ohio, was swimming in the lake with friends about 6 p.m. when he dived headfirst off a boat and hit his head on a sandbar in shallow water, conservation officers said.

Heyne was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. He died at 7 a.m. Monday, conservation officers said.

Because of inaccurate information provided in the initial news release, a story published Monday incorrectly reported that the accident happened at Lake Wawasee.
