ANGOLA – Indiana prison records show a Muncie man fatally shot in northeastern Indiana had been paroled about a month earlier.

Indiana Department of Correction records show 29-year-old Ruben Wayne Sanchez Jr. of Muncie was released June 8 after serving concurrent 12-year terms on five criminal confinement convictions from 2004.

He was found with gunshot wounds Sunday outside a home near Jimmerson Lake, about 40 miles north of Fort Wayne. He later died at a Fort Wayne hospital.

The (Muncie) Star Press reports that the man arrested on a preliminary charge of murder in the shooting, 28-year-old Mark Zachary Hines of Fremont, is a former Muncie resident.

Hines was being held without bond Monday in the Steuben County Jail in Angola. It’s not clear whether he has an attorney.
