Spotlight: Indiana football commit Donovan Clark

The latest Indiana commit can be summed up in a couple words, AWP 7-on-7 coach Michael Ledo said: “game-changer.”

Clark, a senior-to-be at South Side, gave his pledge to the Hoosiers after an unofficial visit on Tuesday. The trip, he said, was more of a formality. The 6-foot-1 defensive back wanted to make sure he could see himself at the Kelley School of Business, where he plans to major in business management.

“I’d been up there two times already, and I’d seen the campus and talked with the players. That was good,” he said. “After that, I just needed to basically follow up with education, and once I’d seen that the Kelley School of Business was somewhere I could see myself being, it was easy.”

The staff, Clark said, sees the Archer as a lockdown defender with fast feet, good top-end speed and as an option on kickoffs and punt returns.

Comfort with the coaching staff was an important part of Clark’s decision, as well. And IU coach Kevin Wilson, along with cornerbacks coach Brandon Shelby, made sure Clark felt at home in Bloomington.

“It’s just somewhere I can see myself being successful,” Clark said. “It feels great. I’m so comfortable with my decision.”
