Small plane makes crash landing near Wakarusa

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department issued the following statement on Friday:

On July 5, 2013 at approximately 12:31pm, Elkhart County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to investigate the report of an aircraft that had made a crash landing in a field east of the city limits of Wakarusa. John B. Seaver (age 63) of Elkhart, Indiana was flying a 1995 Piper Malibu PA 46 airplane when he had to make an emergency landing in a field north of CR 44 west of CR 9 after experiencing engine problems. Seaver received no injuries and the aircraft sustained damage to the right wing and wheel. Seaver, who had departed from the Elkhart Municipal Airport, was heading to Indianapolis. The incident is still under investigation and will be under review by the FAA.
