Church's clock faces ready for re-install

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – A historic southern Indiana church's clock tower is ready to be returned to its former glory following a restoration of its weathered clock faces.

New Albany officials will close a city street July 16 so crews can loft the Town Clock Church's spruced-up clock faces back into their lofty perch overlooking the Ohio River city.

Irv Stumler of Friends of the Town Clock Church tells the News and Tribune that the church's bell will be sounded as the clock faces are re-installed. He says restoration of the Civil War-era building is proceeding well.

Friends of the Town Clock Church has raised about $80,000, allowing the organization to match the $75,000 commitment from the city.
