2 arrested in rash of auto break-ins


Detectives have arrested a man and woman from Hudson on charges of breaking into numerous vehicles, according to the Steuben County Sheriff's Department.

Shawn Moore, 35, faces eight felony counts of receiving stolen property. Amanda Johnson, 32, is charged with receiving stolen property and fraud, both felonies.

Sheriff's detectives in Steuben, Wells and Adams counties worked to determine that Moore and Johnson were suspects in several thefts from vehicles in the last three months.

The thefts occurred in Steuben County, the sheriff's department said.

Moore and Johnson were arrested Saturday morning. Moore was being held Tuesday night at the Wells County Jail in lieu of $40,000 bail. Johnson had been released, a jail officer said.

Detectives have recovered some of the stolen property and are seeking to return it to the owners, the sheriff's department said.
