Massage parlors, hotels targeted in prostitution sting

FORT WAYNE – An investigation into multiple city spas, parlors and hotels netted more than a dozen prostitution arrests.

On Tuesday, city officers with the vice and narcotics division and others operated a day-long prostitution investigation using anonymous tips and online posts to track and arrest individuals involved with prostitution activities, Fort Wayne Police Department spokeswoman Raquel Foster said.

Court records show eight individuals were arrested on misdemeanor prostitution charges and four others were arrested on charges of patronizing a prostitute.

In addition to local arrests, individuals from Ohio, Illinois and California also face charges.

Arrests were made at Q Spa, 5452 Getz Road and Golden Spa, 9155 Lima Road, Foster said.

Q Spa was also targeted in March 2011 after an employee performed a sexual act on an undercover officer, according to court records.

Xiong Tang, 46, was arrested on misdemeanor prostitution charges.

Both spas were open for business on Wednesday afternoon.

Foster said the individuals arrested on misdemeanor charges until the department could conduct thorough investigations.

"These types of activities can mask something bigger, like a much larger network of child prostitution or sex trafficking," she said.

Foster added that there was no information yet about whether the individuals arrested were connected to larger networks.

Officers were also located in several hotels, monitoring websites for people soliciting sexual favors or offering prostitution services in Fort Wayne, she said.
