Joint group taps new office

Greater Fort Wayne, job-lure alliance to lease space

Greater Fort Wayne Inc. is finalizing lease details for office space on the 1st Source Center’s eighth floor, officials announced Tuesday. They expect to finish the paperwork by the end of next week.

The downtown building at 200 E. Main St. already leases ninth-floor offices to complementary organizations: the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership, the Indiana Economic Development Corp.’s Northeast Regional office, the Northeast Indiana Regional Workforce Investment Board and IPFW’s Community Research Institute.

Greater Fort Wayne Inc. was created this year to combine the Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance and the Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce. Plans call for the staffs of both nonprofits to move into the new offices by early November.

The alliance has offices at 111 W. Wayne St.

The chamber in September announced it had sold its building at 826 Ewing St. to the University of Saint Francis.

The building will be renovated and used for the Keith Busse School of Business and Entrepreneurial Leadership.

The combined organization plans to lease enough space to offer member businesses access to small and large meeting rooms and other office space, officials said.

Greater Fort Wayne Inc. plans to launch an investment campaign in the next few months. The group’s transition board voted to hire R&M Resource Development, a Colorado consulting firm, to lead the effort.

Chairman Mike Packnett said the nonprofit is planning for the future.

“This campaign is all about positioning Greater Fort Wayne Inc. to help the Fort Wayne-Allen County area become one of the Top 100 communities in the country,” he said in a statement. “We clearly have some lofty goals over the next few years, and this capital campaign will ensure we have the resources to help achieve those goals.”

Among the goals listed on the group’s website are: grow jobs, create an entrepreneur-rich landscape, attract talent and increase business investment.
