Motorcycle crash ends 130 mph chase

COLUMBUS, Ind. – State police say a motorcyclist crashed and was arrested after a chase from officers that topped 130 mph in southern Indiana.

Police said a trooper spotted the motorcyclist doing a wheelie while passing vehicles on Indiana 46 on the west side of Columbus late Sunday. The trooper chased the motorcycle into Brown County, when it turned around and headed back toward Columbus at more than double the 55 mph speed limit.

The trooper lost sight of the motorcycle, but it soon passed a Columbus officer on a nearby road going more than 100 mph. The officer reported that the motorcycle crashed after he started chasing it.

State police said the 23-year-old driver was treated at a hospital and then jailed on several preliminary charges, including resisting arrest and drunken driving.
