Rep. Marlin Stutzman, R-3rd has joined the Congressional Caucus on Macedonia and Macedonian-Americans.
According to a statement from the United Macedonian Diaspora, the caucus “serves as a body to maintain and strengthen the positive and mutually beneficial relationship between the United States and Macedonia.”
The caucus consists of 18 voting members of Congress, including Rep. Pete Visclosky, D-1st. Ten Republicans, eight Democrats and the non-voting representative of Guam are members.
Macedonia is in the Balkan Peninsula of southeast Europe. The UMD noted in a news release that Fort Wayne, the largest city in Stutzman’s district, has a Macedonian community that is more than a century old and is home to the Macedonian Museum and the Macedonian Tribune, the oldest continuously published Macedonian newspaper in the world, which was founded in 1927.
