Former TinCaps catch-up

The Journal Gazette takes a look at how players promoted out of Fort Wayne have fared with their new clubs.

Leonel Campos, RHP

Where: Double-A San Antonio

Performance: Campos has pitched in two games for the Missions. The reliever has gone 2 1/3 innings and has yet to give up a run out of the bullpen. In his longest appearance, a two-inning stint Friday, Campos gave up one hit, walked one and struck out two.

John Hussey, RHP

Where: Advanced-A Lake Elsinore

Performance: Hussey moved to the Storm toward the middle of Fort Wayne's first-half season and struggled to start. In his last 10 games, though, Hussey has been pretty consistent in relief.

While he sports a 1-3 record and 9.53 ERA in Lake Elsinore, Hussey dropped that to 1.29 in 14 innings pitched over his last 10 outings. The righty has a 1.86 ERA in June compared to a 15.23 average in May.

In a relief appearance Saturday, Hussey went 2 1/3 innings, gave up two hits and struck out one. The run scored against him was unearned.

Justin Hancock, RHP

Where: Advanced-A Lake Elsinore

Performance: Hancock continued a strong first half for the TinCaps as he headed to California. In two starts for the storm, the 22-year-old has a 0.82 ERA, with seven hits and one earned run to his name.

Hancock went six innings with three hits, two walks and one strikeout in his last start, a no-decision on Friday.

Jeremy Baltz, outfielder/designated hitter

Where: Advanced-A Lake Elsinore

Performance: Baltz was out with a groin injury for the latter part of the first half for Fort Wayne. He's been spectacular since his return.

Baltz is batting .405 with the Storm and has 11 RBI in nine games. He also has 15 hits, two doubles and three home runs in that span.

Baltz is also batting a blazing .538 with runners in scoring position.
