CARMEL – The owner of a day care center in an upscale Indianapolis suburb and her daughter have been arrested on preliminary charges of reckless homicide and involuntary manslaughter in the death of a 5-month-old who was found in a broken portable crib in a room with no baby monitor.
Stacey Cox, 43, and Kirsten Phillips, 22, are also charged with felony neglect of a dependent in Conor Tilson’s death at Stacey Cox Daycare in Carmel, the Indianapolis Star reported.
Cox faces misdemeanor charges of deception, operating a child-care home without a license and unlicensed practice of nursing.
It was not known whether the two had attorneys.
Both were being held Friday in the Hamilton County Jail and are expected to make their initial court appearances Monday.
