Statement as issued Friday by Indiana Gov. Mike Pence:

INDIANAPOLIS – Governor Mike Pence today announced the promotion of Marilee Springer to Deputy Chief of Staff where she will serve as the liaison to the executive agencies. In that role, she will provide strategic oversight of their operations and provide accountability for their performance in relation to the metrics that Governor Pence has set for them. Springer is currently the Senior Policy Director. Prior to joining the Pence Administration, Springer was a partner at Ice Miller within the firm’s tax group. In that role, she represented tax-exempt and governmental entities, with a focus on private foundations and donors, colleges and universities, and health care providers.

“Marilee has played an intricate role in the Pence Administration with her strong leadership of the policy team during our first legislative session,” said Governor Pence. “Her willingness to serve the people of Indiana is admirable and I am thrilled to promote Marilee to Deputy Chief of Staff where she will undoubtedly continue to lead with integrity.”

“I appreciate the confidence that Governor Pence has placed in me and I look forward to supporting his vision to make Indiana a national model of innovation and reform.” said Marilee Springer.

Governor Pence is also promoting Dr. Ryan Streeter to Senior Policy Director where he will be responsible for overseeing Governor Pence’s policy agenda and managing the Governor’s policy team. Dr. Streeter will also remain in his current role as the Governor’s Senior Economic Policy Director. Dr. Streeter was a Distinguished Fellow for Economic and Fiscal Policy at the Sagamore Institute and has taught as an adjunct professor at Indiana University’s school of public policy. Previously, he was a senior fellow and one of the founding directors at the Legatum Institute in London. He served in the White House as a special assistant for domestic policy to George W. Bush. Dr. Streeter holds a Ph.D from Emory University.

Springer and Dr. Streeter will start their new roles on July 1, 2013.
