Snider gets true home football game

Snider will play its first-ever true home football game on the school's campus field, Bowser Field, at 7 p.m. Oct. 18 against Wayne.

The Panthers, who play home games at Northrop's Spuller Stadium, will play host to a regular-season game against the Generals on a Friday instead of moving the game to a Saturday after a scheduling conflict.

"It should be exciting," Snider athletic director and former football coach Russ Isaacs said. "We are going to try it and see what happens. We have never played a true home football game in the history of our school."

Snider has played host to varsity scrimmages and junior varsity and freshman games at Bowser Field.

Isaacs said fans will be encouraged to bring lawn chairs and bleachers will be brought in. The band will be put at one end of the field to help save space for fans.

"We will make the most of our seating," Isaacs said.

Parking will be in the school's lot, as well as schools and churches around the field.

The Panthers are the defending SAC champions and the 2012 Class 5A state runners-up.
