Flasher admits guilt on felony charge

Twenty-six-year-old Derek Eccard has a number of misdemeanor convictions related to public indecency – with a history of exposing his genitals to others over the past few years.

Now he has a Class B felony conviction, this time for attempted criminal deviate conduct, after he pleaded guilty Friday morning in Allen Superior Court. Eccard also pleaded guilty to public indecency as a felony. In exchange for his guilty plea, an additional charge of sexual battery will be dismissed when he is sentenced next month.

In March, Allen County prosecutors charged Eccard after he exposed himself in a north-side thrift store and grabbed a female employee’s head and forced it downward.

When he is sentenced, Eccard faces a total of 10 years in prison.
