Guilty plea in using mom’s ID to buy car

A woman who used her dying mother’s name to buy a car pleaded guilty Friday morning to fraud on a financial institution.

Jamie L. Boyd, 52, of the 5200 block of Bellevue Drive, was charged in January with fraud, theft, and identity deception, more than a year after she committed the crime. Boyd also goes by the names Jamie Lorraine Hatch and Jamie McClure, according to court records.

According to court documents, Boyd used her dying mother’s identification to buy a 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe.

Boyd received $41,685 in financing, according to court documents. Her mother died six days later, according to court documents.

Under the terms of the plea agreement, Boyd will be sentenced to four years in prison and have to pay $2,671 in restitution – split between Kelley Chevrolet and Westfield Insurance. The additional charges will be dismissed at sentencing in August.
