Charges filed in bridal shower fight

A Fort Wayne woman was charged Thursday after police said she bludgeoned a woman’s face with a 12-ounce bottle of Coors Light during a bridal shower at a local VFW on Saturday.

Tarainka A. Cain, 23, was arrested after city police responded to Parkview Hospital where Cain and another woman took the victim after realizing how badly she was injured, according to court documents.

Cain told police there was a fight between the victim and her sister at the VFW and she had stepped in to break it up and then went to sit at the bar. The location of the VFW was not in court documents.

The victim then came to the bar and Cain hit her. The two separated and went outside and began to argue again, and Cain struck her with the bottle of beer, court documents said.

The victim’s face was cut from her temple to her jaw line in a crescent shape and she underwent 45 minutes of plastic surgery, court documents said.

Cain, of the 4000 block of Bowser Avenue, was being held in lieu of $3,250 bail on a felony charge of criminal recklessness and a misdemeanor battery charge.
