9 arrested in meth raid

Police converged on a rural Noble County home Friday morning, arresting nine people in a search for drugs, guns, cash and surveillance equipment.

Noble County Prosecutor Steven T. Clouse announced that a search warrant was issued for a house in the 3800 stretch of Indiana 9, south of Albion.

The owner, Randall L. Katz, 44, was charged with dealing in methamphetamine, conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine and maintaining a common nuisance, the announcement said. No bond amount has been set.

Eight other people from northeast Indiana were arrested -- a 23-year-old woman from Churubusco, several Albion-area women, a 19-year-old Albion man, a 45-year-old Warsaw woman, a 22-year-old from Columbia City and a 44-year-old from the Ligonier area. The exact nature of charges against them is yet to be determined, the prosecutor said.

He said the search warrant was granted after a lengthy joint investigation among the Indiana Multi Agency Group Enforcement Drug Task Force, the Allen County Drug Task Force and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms.

Katz’s court appearance is not expected until early next week.
