Purdue lands biggest commit of 2014 class

Purdue football got its biggest commitment -- in size and significance -- when offensive tackle Denzel Ward chose the Boilermakers on Friday.

Ward is a 6-foot-8, 307-pound lineman out of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

The 2014 prospect's finalists included Florida, Ohio State and Oklahoma before his commitment to Darrell Hazell's program. He is a former Michigan commit but reopened his recruitment in late January.

Ward is the fifth Boilermakers commitment of the 2014 class, and the biggest coup of the group thus far. He is a consensus top-50 player at his position and also one of the best overall players in Florida.
