Work on I-69 will last another week in Steuben

Statement as issued Wednesday by INDOT:

STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces that the intermittent restrictions on southbound I-69, between Exit 348 (US 20) and Exit 340 (SR 4), will continue until Wednesday, June 26, weather permitting.

Motorists should be aware of traffic controls including barrels, cones and arrow boards while the work is in progress. There is a 45 mph speed limit within the construction zone when workers are present. There also is a width limit of 14 feet within the project limits. Work will be performed daily, between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.

INDOT is performing proactive bridge maintenance work over Pigeon Creek, approximately 2 ¾ miles south of US 20. The work is part of a multi-location bridge maintenance contract, with work taking place in upcoming months throughout the INDOT Fort Wayne District. The contract was awarded to R. L. McCoy, based on the low bid of $627,000.

INDOT reminds drivers to use caution and consider worker safety when driving through a construction zone. For the latest news and information about INDOT, visit www.in.gov/indot.
