Deadly force justified in standoff with killer, prosecutor says

The Allen County prosecutor says a police-action shooting that killed a man to save the life of a 3-year-old boy held hostage was justified.

Kenneth Knight, 49, was killed by snipers March 20 in a house on Holton Avenue after he fled a bus stop on the city's south side where he shot and killed Jacqueline Bouvier Hardy, police said.

The prosecutor’s office reviewed the investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Indiana State Police, announcing Tuesday that “the officers involved were justified in using deadly force.”
