Motorcycle rider airlifted after crash

A woman was in critical condition Sunday following a two-vehicle collision northeast of Bryan, Ohio, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 4:20 p.m. Friday on U.S. 127 near County Road 15-D, according to the Williams County Sheriff’s Department.

Caitlyn McCandless, 16, of Defiance, Ohio, was driving an Oldsmobile west on U.S. 127 and turned left in front of an oncoming Harley-Davidson motorcycle, the sheriff’s department said.

Timothy Cupp, 58, of Bryan, was steering the motorcycle, and Sara Nelson, 48, also of Bryan, was his passenger. The crash threw Nelson from the motorcycle, the sheriff’s department said.

Nelson was taken to Bryan Hospital and was later flown to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. She was in critical condition Sunday afternoon, hospital staff said.

The crash remains under investigation.
