Excise officers arrest 68 at Kenny Chesney concert

Statement as issued by the Indiana State Excise Police about Thursday night’s concert:

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (June 13) – Indiana State Excise Police officers arrested 68 people on 72 charges during the Kenny Chesney concert at Klipsch Music Center, 12880 E. 146th Street, this evening.

Officers arrested 61 minors – seven of whom were less than 18 years old – for illegal possession or consumption of alcohol tonight. Six people were charged with furnishing alcohol to a minor. Of the minors cited for underage drinking, three were also charged with false informing and one with possession of false ID. One juvenile was also cited for possession to tobacco.

In concerts earlier this season, excise officers arrested 30 people at Zac Brown Band, 54 at Brad Paisley, 64 at May Day and 52 at Tim McGraw.

Eli Young Band and Kacey Musgraves also performed at tonight’s concert.

“The Indiana State Excise Police will be a presence at Klipsch Music Center throughout its scheduled events,” Superintendent Matt Strittmatter said. “Working in cooperation with the management and employees of Klipsch Music Center, we will continue to promote a safe environment for those attending the music venue through the enforcement of Indiana laws.”

As the enforcement division of the Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission, the primary mission of the Indiana State Excise Police is to promote public safety by enforcing Indiana’s Alcoholic Beverage Code. While excise officers have the authority to enforce any state law, they focus primarily on alcohol, tobacco and related laws.

All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless, proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
