Lakewood Park wins Class A title

INDIANAPOLIS – Lakewood Park won its second straight Class A state softball championship with a 10-3 win over Tecumseh on Saturday at Ben Davis.

Top-ranked Lakewood Park (29-2) also won the 2012 Class A state title.

The Panthers gave up three runs in the seventh inning, the first scored against them in the postseason.

Third-ranked Tecumseh (21-8) beat the Panthers in the 2011 state title game.

Lakewood Park pitcher Mikeila Boroff gave up six hits and struck out six, but walked four.

Suzanne Grimm and Brooke Herendeen were both were 2 for 4 with two RBI.

Lakewood Park scored three runs in the first, two in the fourth, four in the fifth and a run in the sixth.
