Michael Barwick, a three-star defensive tackle out of Cincinnati, announced his commitment to the Indiana football program Sunday.
Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports.com first reported Barwick's decision. The 6-foot-1, 297-pound tackle is the first 2014 pledge for the Hoosiers.
According to 247Sports.com, Barwick is the No. 51 defensive tackle in his class and the No. 45 player in the state of Ohio. He will play his senior year at The Summit Country Day School.
Barwick attended the IU Junior Day on March 2 and has had the Hoosiers as his favorite for some time. He had offers from Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan and Western Michigan before his commitment Sunday.
The senior-to-be also had interest from a number of Big Ten schools.
