2 ATV riders hurt in wrecks

Two separate all-terrain vehicle crashes over the weekend in Kosciusko County left two people with minor injuries, according to Indiana conservation officers.

On Saturday afternoon, Dwight Dean, 59, of Syracuse, was thrown from an ATV when it went over a small hill on private property in Warsaw. Dean, who was not wearing a helmet, hit his head and did not remember how the crash occurred, conservation officers said.

Complaining of neck pain, he was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw and was expected to make a full recovery.

The second crash occurred Sunday morning near the Tri-County Fish and Wildlife Area.

Caitlan Paloian was turning an ATV when it rolled down a steep embankment and onto her, conservation officers said.

Paloian, 23, of Rosemont, Ill., was treated for a broken wrist at Goshen Hospital. Had she not been wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, conservation officers believe her injuries likely could have been worse.
