Tree limb kills tractor driver

ARCANUM, Ohio – The State Highway Patrol says a man was killed in western Ohio when he was struck in the head by the limb of a tree he was trying to clear from a wooded area.

The Darke County sheriff’s office said James Miltenberger of Castine was dead at the scene in Arcanum, which is about 40 miles south of Celina, Ohio. The sheriff’s office was called about 6 p.m. Sunday. Authorities said Miltenberger and another man were trying to clear a wooded area and were cutting a tree that was already on the ground.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Shawn Trissel said the men were trying to roll the tree over with a tractor.

Trissel said that when the tree rolled, a limb struck Miltenberger, who was operating the tractor.
