The big showdown wasnt much of a show, in the end. Twice-beaten Carroll made quick work of twice-beaten Homestead in the first match of the Homestead tennis regional Tuesday, winning 4-1 taking all four matches in straight sets.
The Chargers Rachel Sutton, Ashley Hoagland and Jenna Jackson all won in straight sets in singles, beating Kelsey Vessels, Hanita Epstein and Mary Rajchel, respectively. The No. 1 doubles team of Audrey Mallers and Makenzie Schoeff got the fourth point, beating Allison Overlander and Jeanay Andrews 6-3, 7-5.
The Chargers will play for the championship against Bishop Dwenger, which beat Huntington North 3-2 in the other bracket.
EASTSIDE 4, BISHOP LUERS 0: The Knights managed just three hits in bowing out of the Class 2A Eastside sectional.
CANTERBURY 17, BETHANY 11: An eight-run fourth was the big inning for the Cavaliers in a Class A Lakewood Park Sectional slugfest.
DEKALB 12, SNIDER 2: The Barons scored three runs apiece in the first, third and fourth innings to knock out Snider in five innings in the Class 4A DeKalb Sectional.
NORTHROP 18, NORTH SIDE 8: An eight-run first and a five-run fourth launched the Bruins to a five-inning victory in the Class 4A DeKalb Sectional.
BELLMONT 9, WHITKO 2: A seven-run first propelled Bellmont past Whitko in the Class 3A Norwell Sectional.
HOMESTEAD INDIVIDUAL SECTIONAL: Natalie Rahrig of Bishop Luers and Morgan Bemisderfer of Blachawk Christian both advanced.

WARSAW REGIONAL: Warsaw captured the title with 69 points. The Tigers 1,600-meter relay team of Megan Kratzsch, Nicole Eckert, Tennie Worrell and Jackie Ferguson won with a time of 4 minutes, 3.37 seconds. Other area winners were: Angolas Brittany Beard (800, 2:14.17) and Kennedy Trine (pole vault, 12 feet).
