    Seventeen members of the 2009 TinCaps have broken into the major leagues, a Class A record, according to information provided by the TinCaps from Sports Reference president Sean Forman.

Rally falls short, TinCaps lose

The TinCaps had a three-run rally in the top of the ninth inning Sunday, but it wasn't enough as they lost 7-5 to the Lake County Captains in Eastlake, Ohio.

Fort Wayne's Maxx Tissenbaum, Dane Phillips and Stephen Carmon each had two hits for the TinCaps (24-17), who were outhit 12-9 by the Captains (15-25).

TinCaps starting pitcher Walter Weickel lasted only 3 1/3 innings, after allowing seven runs and nine hits, while striking out four and walking two.

Lake County struck out 10 Fort Wayne batters and got home runs from Richard Stock and Anthony Santander, who combined for five RBI in front of 3,369 fans at Classic Park.

The TinCaps have lost 3 of 4 games heading into today's series finale at Lake County.
