Oliver Street shooting victim identified

A Fort Wayne man has been identified as the victim of a Thursday shooting on Oliver Street, the Allen County Coroner's Office said today.

Shane Jamal Stephens, 20, died from a gunshot wound or wounds, the coroner's office said in a statement. His death was declared the 18th homicide of the year in Allen County.

Police have said they were called at 4:23 p.m. Thursday to the 3200 block of Oliver Street after receiving a call about a shooting.

Police and paramedics found a man in a front yard suffering from a gunshot wound, and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Stephens' death remains under investigation by Fort Wayne police, the coroner's office and the Allen County prosecutor's office.
